Alena Winner
Has been associated with Loro Parque Fundación since 1997, when she wrote a series of introductory articles for the Czech media dealing with breeding, and has been continuously cooperating with the foundation ever since. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree from the College of European Studies, having defended her Bachelor’s thesis titled “The Role of European Organisations in Global Conservation of Nature”. Later she completed a special study programme in Feature Journalism at the University of Cape Town. She combined her profession with parrot breeding, which she has been involved in since she was 12 years old, and in 2001 she founded the printed magazine “PAPOUŠCI” (meaning Parrots in Czech) in the Czech Republic.
Since 2021, she has been running the international digital magazine AWIPARROTS, which is published in English. She is actively engaged in journalism and dissemination of information about responsible parrot breeding under human care. She has been involved in the production of more than 300 different books as part of a family publishing company and considers literature as an important carrier of information that advances the world.
Her magazines regularly feature Loro Parque Fundación projects and publish information about the Foundation’s achievements.
She and her husband, Joseph, are raising three young children.
